POSITION: Internal Auditor (2) Positions
LOCATION: Treasury Department, Concho , OK
ISSUE DATE: April 24, 2008 CLOSING DATE: Until filled
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of the Internal Audit Director, conducts internal audits to ensure compliance with policies, plans, procedures, laws, and regulations which are applicable to Tribal Government, Gaming and enterprise operations.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the Tribes’ systems of Internal Control and the efficiency with which resources are employed.
SIGNIFICANT DUTIES:
- To meet and exceed the goals and objectives set forth in the budget request.
- Perform complex internal audits. Analyze financial records and operating procedures to assess the fairness of the financial statement presentation, adequacy of internal controls, and effectiveness/efficiency of program operations.
- Document findings in work papers and make corrective action recommendations.
- Maintain current knowledge of and comply with applicable laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and generally accepted governmental accounting procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Government accounting standards and the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and National Indian Gaming Commission.
- Knowledge of Native Americans Sovereignty issues.
- Able to organize and analyze data from a variety of sources and be able to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Experienced in word processing and data base technology.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, management, finance, or business.
- Preference given to certifications as one or more or:
Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Must pass pre-hire drug testing.
